ROE DEER

Description

A small size deer. Height to the shoulder 26 - 38 inches, weight 45 - 80 Ibs. The coat colour in summer is bright reddish brown turning to grey in winter.

PERE DAVID DEER

Description

A large deer. Height to the shoulder about 45 - 47 inches, weight 330 - 440 Ibs. The coat colour in the summer is reddish turning to grey in the winter.

The Antlers

On a mature Roe buck these consist of a main beam and two tinesr one pointing forward and one pointing backwards, as can be seen here.

These are large with the main beam growing upwards from the forehead, and long backward-pointing tines which have small tines growing off them which can be seen here.

Best Time to Hunt

April - May, late July - early August, but can be hunted from April through to the end of October.
